Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” I, Michael Scott, once said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – Wayne Gretzky – Michael Scott.” That quote changed my life. And yes, I quoted myself quoting someone else. That’s how inspired I was.
But here’s the real tea: taking the shot matters. Even if you airball it. Even if it hits the wall. Even if you throw the ball and accidentally hit Meredith in the face (sorry again, Meredith). What matters is you tried.
Too many people wait for the “perfect” moment. Guess what? Perfection is a myth. Like Bigfoot, or people who like HR. If you’re waiting until you feel completely ready, you’ll never move.
Sometimes you’ve gotta shoot your shot with shaky hands, wrinkled pants, and mustard on your tie. That’s courage. That’s growth.
Take the leap. Apply for the job. Launch the idea. Start the YouTube channel. Tell someone you like their haircut even if it’s probably a wig.
Life rewards motion, not hesitation.
So take the shot. If you miss, reload. If you fall, flop dramatically, then stand up and take another one.
Shooters shoot. Leaders lead. Legends try.
Respectfully,
Michael Scott
